It was 2003 in a construction garage where five guys practiced their favorite funk songs worried if they would ever find a singer that could deliver, until one night they found Travis Worthy with a drink in his hand singing to the juke box. After convincing Travis to join the group they soon discovered he was very uncomfortable singing funk and was more into The Rolling Stones and Van Morrison, which they found very unusual. Quickly changing the direction of the band Worthy was ready to make his debut although many of the members didn’t think it was time- the word NO was not in his vocabulary. The band’s first show in Garden City Beach, SC would bring out over 300 spectators, who left raving about the bizarre over the top performance they had witnessed. As time progressed the band took on a life of its own and soon started setting the precedent for other local bands. Sadly after 5 years the band split and once again Worthy led the rebirth of Soul Function now producing a show that was more like a concert. He sought out to find the best musicians possible to master every song performed and eventually music lovers around the world would take notice and today Soul Function entertains corporations and some of Hollywood’s biggest names.
